Awesome Movie Experience in PVR after Covid 19

Are you still wondering if it is safe to visit the movie theatres with everything getting to normal and how might be the movie experience? I recently visited PVR Select City Walk to watch the new Bollywood movie Roohi [First day First Show] and it was a nostalgic feeling altogether to watch a movie in theatres after a year. I am sharing my experience in this post from booking a ticket to watching the movie.

Ticket Booking

The ticket booking is the same as usual. I booked my ticket on BookMyShow and it was easily available. The ticket prices were dead cheap. I paid 250 rupees for a lounger seat in the IMAX auditorium.

Entering into PVR

The entry was normal, barcode scanning via mobile ticket. The only addition is the thermal check via the latest machine (not the normal thermometer gun that we see these days). In case, someone is detected with fever, he/she is denied entry to the theatre, and tickets are refunded.

After entering the theatre, we realized that there were less than 10 customers in the entire waiting area. We ordered some snacks at the food counter and we were told that the items will be delivered at the seats. The prices of food were High as usual (No impact of the pandemic on F&B counter). But, they gave us a 300 rupees movie voucher redeemable before 31st march 2021 (probably to motivate people to visit theatres again).

Movie Experience

Movie Experience

We entered the theatre and took our seats. We didn’t have to leave a seat and sit, it was allowed to sit together. It was really overwhelming to see the big screen again. I just love to watch trailers at the beginning of the movie (the reason I always visit theatres on time ). The moment PVR played the 1st trailer, I had tears of Joy as finally, we were able to experience the big screen and amazing sound system after a year.

PVR played around 4-5 trailers and we just felt the sound was too loud but later realized we took some time to adjust for that kind of sound. This was completely normal as we were not in a habit of loud music and sounds for the last 1 year.

While the overall movie experience was good (not commenting on the movie though), we really missed the claps, whistles, and laughter that we used to get in a full house.

Conclusion

Overall the movie experience was good and comfortable. PVR had left no stone unturned for the safety of the customers. Hence, I would urge people to start considering going to theatres to watch the movies. If we feel it is now safe going to offices, travel, plan holidays. Then, visiting movie theatres should also be considered safe.
